This past September I joined Orrin Evans and Captain Black Big Band for three days of joyful and rowdy music in New York, at Dizzy’s Coca Cola Club and in Philadelphia at Chris’ Jazz Cafe. The band was celebrating the release of “Presence” on Smoke Session Records. If you don’t know the Captain Black Big Band – get hip!! I’ve had the great pleasure of playing with them off and on for over five years. It’s easily the most life-affirming music I have ever been a part of.
